Even before your baby is born, we’ll design and prepare a portrait session that you will love. From beginning to end of
the entire experience, my focus is on your vision, needs and comfort.
When you contact me, I’ll schedule a Discovery Call where we’ll go through your vision for your Newborn photo shoot. Ideally this will happen during your second trimester. We’ll discuss the overall look and feel you desire, what kinds of images you want, and what artwork you may want in your home. This call gives us the opportunity to make sure working together is a good fit well before your baby arrives.
Whether in person or virtually, our next step is a full consultation where we go through every step of my Newborn Photography Experience. Usually, I’ll meet you at your home so mom can be completely comfortable. Together, we’ll design your entire inhome session including who will be in each shot (siblings, whole family, etc). I’ll bring a selection of wraps and bonnets to choose from. We’ll also go through all the artwork available for your portraits and your level of investment. Then, when you’re ready, we book your session.
Between the Consultation and your actual newborn portrait session, you’ll receive a Styling Guide and Welcome Packet. During this time I’ll offer support in choosing outfits as needed. When your little one arrives, we’ll be ready.
Once your baby has arrived, let me know the happy news as soon as possible! We’ll schedule your session for when your baby is about two weeks old. Once again, I come to you so you never have to leave the comfort of your home. Newborn sessions are baby-led and can take three to four hours as we patiently work with your baby to get the perfect portraits. We’ll take breaks for nursing and rocking as needed, because your baby’s comfort and safety are my top priority.
One to two weeks after your session, I’ll come to your home again for your Viewing Appointment. I will have gone through all your images and pulled only the very best ones for soft-proof editing, adjusting cropping and lighting. I’ll show you these edited images in a slideshow and you’ll be amazed how much your baby has grown in only a few short weeks.
Once we’ve narrowed down your edited images to your favorites, we’ll discuss how you want to display your portraits. I offer computer simulations of your walls to custom-design gallery walls, and stunning heirloom albums, among many other pieces of art to choose from. We’ll discuss any additional edits, and you’ll receive a proof prior to printing. As you wait for your printed artwork, you’ll receive a matching digital file for any portrait you’ve ordered so you can share your beautiful baby with the world.

“My husband and I were both a little apprehensive about doing a newborn shoot because our little one was born early and was very tiny. Erin took such amazing care of our little Lilly during the shoot and I am so excited that we decided to do it! She was thorough and organized from day one when we began discussing the logistics of the session, which helped with some of my first-time mom anxiety. And during the actual session, she was gentle and sweet and put us and our baby completely at ease! The photos turned out incredible thanks to her patience and her eye for the little details that make all the difference. I could not recommend her more strongly!”
“We had Erin do our son’s newborn pictures and she did an amazing job. She is a perfectionist and is patient until she gets the shot she is looking for. She was excellent with the baby and my two year old. My pictures look perfect and we couldn’t be happier – I cannot say enough about Erin’s work! In addition to being professional, she is a wonderful person to work with.”
“Erin has taken pictures for our family several times. She has done business photos and family photos for both of my newborns. Erin is absolutely the best! Patient, perfectionist, pays attention to details, and loving. She truly has so many great qualities as a photographer! Highly recommend Erin!”
The best time to book is during your second trimester. This is also the perfect time to book maternity portraits, if you’re interested.
Yes! If you book maternity and newborn sessions at the same time, you’ll receive $100 off your newborn session fee. Working together on maternity photos also allows me to build a relationship with you and your family which can make the newborn session run more smoothly.
When you book your session, I pencil in your due date and leave flexibility in my schedule to accommodate your baby potentially coming early or late. By booking before your baby is born, you’re guaranteed a spot on my calendar regardless of when your baby arrives.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to check my availability. I only schedule a limited number of newborn sessions each month due to the flexibility of due dates, so I will try to accommodate a last-minute booking if I can.
To get those beautiful, squishy, womblike photos, it’s best to schedule your session when your baby is about 2 weeks old. Waiting until this time also allows mom some much-needed time for rest and recovery.
Yes, please! Family and sibling photos are always included in your session fee and I encourage them. I especially urge moms to be in the photo. These are precious moments between you and your baby. Even if only for your eyes, you should see how beautiful you look with your new baby.
The short answer is yes. The longer answer: we’ll try our best. With a new baby in the house, some pets may feel uncomfortable or unsettled, but if they’re interested in the process, they can definitely be included.
Upon booking, I will send you a style guide to help with outfit planning and coordination. I suggest creating a palette of likeness using a color family like creams or other neutrals for coordination instead of matching. As you plan your outfits, I’m there to help along the way.
